Two Montgomery County car thefts caught on video
Montgomery County police released videos of two thefts they are investigating. In both cases, items were stolen out of unlocked parked cars.
Police said the theft happened on July 15 shortly before 2 a.m. The two men got into the unlocked cars that were parked in a driveway of a residence in the 4000 block of Fox Valley Drive in Rockville.
They took a credit card, which they tried to use at a gas station in Gaithersburg. The homeowner was able to capture the theft on video. The men can be seen entering the unlocked cars and using flashlights to illuminate the interiors.
A second car theft on July 18 was also captured on video. A man got into a car parked in the driveway of a residence in the 11200 block of Midvale Road in Kensington. Again the car was not locked.
The resident captured the theft on video, which shows that two suspects walked by the house but only one approached the vehicle.
Detectives do not believe that the two incidents were committed by the same suspects.
