William Tyler Cowherd killed in Fairfax County motorcycle accident
A motorcyclist was struck and killed in a car accident on Saturday evening in Fairfax County, police say.
Fairfax County Police say that two cyclists were driving their Harley Davidsons eastbound on Braddock Road near Twinbrook Road when a Lexus, driven by a 63-year-old Maryland woman, turned left in front of them at about 7 p.m.
The cyclists could not stop in time and both struck the passenger side of the vehicle. One victim, 45-year-old William Tyler Cowherd of Annandale died. The other cyclist, identified as a 50-year-old male from Manassas, sustained severe injuries but is expected to survive. The driver of the Lexus was not injured.
Both victims were wearing helmets at the time of the collision.
The investigation is ongoing. This is the 20th fatal vehicle accident in Fairfax County in 2011.
