5-year-old girl abducted, assaulted in Franconia
Updated: August 31, 2011 - 05:54 pm
Police are reporting they found the site where a five-year-old girl was assaulted early Saturday after she was abducted from her bed in Franconia.
Fairfax County Police continued Tuesday to hunt for the suspect, but said they have no description of the man.
Officer Don Gotthardt, a police spokesman, says the area was in a wooded area near the girl's home in the 7000 block of Brocton Court.
Authorities say an unknown intruder broke into the girl's home on Saturday and took her from her bed. The girl's parents and 1-year-old sibling were asleep at the time. Police say the girl made her way back home shortly after 4 a.m. and explained what had happened.
Police say the girl had "trauma to the upper body" but was not stabbed or shot. She has been in the hospital since Saturday morning.
Investigators say the girl has given them information that they are working to piece together to develop a suspect.
On Sunday, detectives canvassed a nearby shopping center.
