Adrian Norvell Johnson indicted in 2011 fatal accident
A grand jury has indicted a former FBI agent on nine counts of vehicular manslaughter and several other charges for his role in a DUI car crash that killed an 18-year-old in 2011.
Adrian Norvell Johnson, 37 of Brandywine, also faces charges of homicide by motor vehicle, DUI and reckless driving in connection with the death of 18-year-old Lawrence Garner Jr.
Garner’s family says Lawrence was a good kid with a bright future.
“We lost somebody that was really ... that was my brother... and everybody is still going through it going to be a long time until we recover from it,” his sister Lekeysha Garner said through tears.
Johnson's blood-alcohol level was allegedly three times the legal limit at the time of the crash. Police say he blew a .25 blood alcohol breath test. He was also allegedly speeding.
Johnson was dismissed from the FBI several months ago
“I just can’t believe he got behind the wheel and did that,” Lekeysha said.
“This kind of crime is a completely preventable crime. In this case the family the impact is unbelievable,” Prince George’s county state attorney Angela Alsobrooks said.
Garner had been playing basketball with friends at the Baden Recreational Center before the crash.
If convicted, Johnson faces up to 10 years in prison.
“My brother is not coming back, he’s dead and gone and this guy is going to be in jail for a little amount of time and then he gets out,” Lekeysah said.
