A man has been arrested for his possible connection to the shooting death of Jose Cardona on May 17, 2010 in the Centreville area.

Vincent Milhouse, 37, is in federal custody and charged with obstruction of justice and lying to a grand jury, according to an Alexandria Federal Court indictment.

Fairfax County Police are looking at Milhouse as the driver of the white Toyota pick-up truck that was used as a getaway vehicle for the two gunmen in the botched home-invasion that lead to Cardona's death.

According to federal court documents, Milhouse picked up two men who he met at a convenience store. He drove them to the Centreville home in the 14200 block of Compton Road and dropped them off. Fairfax County police say both were armed and reportedly wanted to rob the homeowners.

Family member and Cardona, the family’s handyman, confronted the two outside the house. Cardona was shot to death. Witnesses say they saw the gunmen run back to the pick-up truck, climb in and speed away.

“That's just cold hearted as far as I'm concerned,” said neighbor Jesse Garnett.

Fairfax County detectives say it seems the gunmen were also involved in the robbery of his business a month earlier.

Milhouse, of Fort Washington, Md., is not facing murder charges. No one else has been charged in the case, but police hope the arrest will help them in the murder investigation.
