Baltimore-Washington Parkway triple fatal: woman, teen, 3-month-old
Three people, including an adult, a teen and a 3-month-old, are dead following a crash Saturday morning on the southbound Baltimore-Washington Parkway in Laurel, police said.
At 2:15 a.m., a sport utility vehicle left the road and hit a tree near Powder Mill Road in Beltsville.
Several people were ejected from the SUV. An adult and a teenaged girl were pronounced dead on the scene and another five people, including four children, were taken to area hospitals in critical condition.
A 3-month old later succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead.
A man in his 20s was transported by helicopter to a Trauma Center in Baltimore. Paramedics and a helicopter transported three children, all 13-years-old or younger, to a Trauma Center for Children.
The Parkway reopened about 8 a.m.
The cause of the crash was not immediately available and it was not yet known whether alcohol or speed were factors.
