Bradbury Heights Elementary students who walk need to arrive to Bradbury Heights by 7:15 AM. Buses will take students to G. Gardner Shugart. Students who ride the bus will continue to depart from their designated stops. Buses will go direct to G. Gardner Shugart.
Bradbury Heights Elementary School students will be relocated to G. Gardner Shugart Middle School at 2000 Callaway Street in Temple Hills, MD. This is due to Earthquake damage at Bradbury.
As of 5 p.m. today, August 29, power has been restored to Chevy Chase Elementary, Highland View Elementary, Piney Branch Elementary and Francis Scott Key Middle schools. School will open on time at those four locations, tomorrow, August 30.
MCPS continues to work with Pepco to restore power at Bradley Hills Elementary, Harmony Hills Elementary and Woodlin Elementary schools. MCPS will make an announcement about operations for those three schools before 6 a.m. tomorrow, August 30.
ll DC Public Schools will open Tuesday, Aug. 30, including two schools that remain without power Monday, said DCPS Chancellor Kaya Henderson.
Two schools - the Oyster Building of Oyster-Adams Bilingual School in Ward 3 and Thomas Elementary in Ward 7 - remain without electricity Monday afternoon and DCPS has identified alternative school sites for Tuesday, Aug. 30 in case power is not restored to those schools this evening.
Families with students at the Oyster Building of Oyster-Adams Bilingual School and Thomas Elementary should adhere to the following pickup and drop-off procedures Tuesday morning and afternoon.
Parents should drop-off students at Oyster on Tuesday morning and pick them up from Oyster for afternoon dismissal. In the event power is not restored in time for classes on Tuesday, Aug. 30, Oyster students in pre-K to second grade will be relocated to the Adams campus of Oyster-Adams; Oyster students in third grade will be relocated to Marie Reed Elementary.
After drop-off Tuesday morning, students will be transported by bus to the Adams campus or Marie Reed Elementary depending on their grade level. At dismissal Tuesday, students will return from the Adams campus or Marie Reed and be dismissed from Oyster.
Thomas Elementary parents should drop-off and pickup students at Thomas on Tuesday morning and afternoon. Students in pre-K to second grade will be relocated to Kenilworth Elementary while students in grades 3-5 will be relocated to Cesar Chavez Public Charter School, 3701 Hayes Street NE, the school's designated alternate site. Buses will transport younger students to Kenilworth Elementary, while students in grades 3-5 will walk as a group from Thomas Elementary to Cesar Chavez Public Charter School.
School Without Walls staff and students should plan to report to Eastern High again Tuesday, Aug. 30.
