Daniel John Baker and Richard Franklin Scotton II killed in fiery Silver Spring crash

Montgomery County Police have released the identities of two men killed when the vehicle they were riding in struck a tree and burst into flames in Silver Spring.
Investigators say the driver, 27-year-old Daniel John Baker, and the passenger, 26-year-old Richard Franklin Scotton II, died in the fiery wreck in the 15700 block of Holly Grove Road in the Cloverly area about 12:22 a.m. on August 13.
A preliminary investigation indicates that a Subaru, traveling north on Holly Grove Road, left the right side of the roadway, spun around, and struck a tree on the passenger side.The vehicle then caught fire, killing the men. Both were from Silver Spring.
Police say it’s unclear what caused the accident. An investigation is ongoing.
