Deanthony Nathan Bagley arrested, charged in Lanham arson
Prince George's County Police have arrested and charged a Seat Pleasant man with arson and attempted murder in connection with a fire that broke out at a Lanham home on Tuesday.
Deanthony Nathan Bagley, 23, has been charged with 12 counts, including five counts each of 1st-degree murder and 1st-degree arson.
The incident took place just before 6 a.m. Tuesday in a two-story home on the 5500 block of Lanham Station Road, where authorities received a report of a house fire involving a cutting.
The fire was extinguished and five members of the family were able to escape unharmed. A 32-year-old male suffered minor injuries as the result of an assault. He as treated on the scene.
Authorities now say that Bagley, who is a half-brother of one of the family members, allegedly broke into the house, poured flammable liquid throughout and then threw a Molotov Cocktail into the second story. When the assault victim woke up and saw Bagley, a struggle ensued, during which Bagley cut the victim.
During the scuffle, a female resident of the home hit Bagley with an object. He then fled, but was later found at Prince George's Hospital, where he was arrested after being treated for an injury.
Bagley also faces one count each of 1st-degree assault and 2nd-degree arson.
