Fees for extra trash start Wednesday in Falls Church
August 16, 2011 - 04:38 am
FALLS CHURCH, Va. (AP) - Homeowners in the city of Falls Church will have to pay if they generate too much trash.
This week the city implements a new policy for residents in single-family detached homes. Those who can't fit the trash into a city-issued cart will have to buy $1 stickers and place them on the extra bags of trash if they want them to be picked up.
A similar policy will go into effect for townhomes and condominiums next month.
The city expects to raise $15,000 annually with the sticker fees.
