Great Dismal Swamp continues to burn, smoke

Fire crews have only contained 10 percent of the 6,000 acre Great Dismal Swamp fire that has been burning since Aug. 4.
The fire is the largest fire in the history of the Great Dismal Swamp National Wildlife Refuge, according to the U.S. Forestry Service.
The winds have been blowing smoke from the fire into the central, southern and eastern shore regions of Maryland. The National Weather Service in Wakefield, Va. advises the condition will remain throughout Sunday.
The Great Dismal Swamp is nine miles southeast of Suffolk and has been burning since a lightning strike started it.
