WASHINGTON (AP) — The former commander of a District of Columbia police division that provided a high-speed escort to actor Charlie Sheen says he's challenging a departmental reprimand.

Hilton Burton tells The Associated Press he was offered a reprimand during a meeting Tuesday with a representative from the disciplinary review branch. But he says he's rejecting the punishment because he feels he didn't do anything wrong.

An internal affairs report this week also reveals the escort was referred to Virginia authorities, who declined to prosecute for traffic violations.

Sheen's limousine was escorted by police in April from Dulles International Airport to a performance in Washington.

Burton was demoted this month to the rank of captain and transferred from the special operations division. Chief Cathy Lanier says the move wasn't related to the escort.
