Howard County triathlon may snarl traffic Sunday

ELLICOTT CITY, Md. (AP) - Officials say the bicycle portion of a triathlon on Sunday may cause major traffic delays on Md. 108.
Howard County police say in a news release that the highway will be closed to westbound traffic between Ten Mills Road and Centennial Lane from 7 a.m. to noon on Sunday and southbound Cenennial Lane from the park entrance to Md. 108 also will be closed for the Athleta Iron Girl Columbia Triathlon.
Officials expect about 2,000 participants in the event and authorities are advising motorists to allow extra time or plan alternate routes.
