Jameel Freeman, Md. soldier killed in Afghanistan

BALTIMORE (AP) - A Maryland man is one of five soldiers killed by a bomb in Afghanistan.
The U.S. Department of Defense announced Saturday that 26-year-old Spc. Jameel T. Freeman of Baltimore was one of five soldiers killed Thursday when an improvised explosive device detonated near their vehicle in Kandahar province.
The soldiers were assigned to the 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division at Fort Drum, N.Y.
Also killed were 26-year-old Sgt. Edward J. Frank II of Yonkers, N.Y.; 21-year-old Spc. Patrick L. Lay II of Fletcher, N.C.; 23-year-old Spc. Jordan M. Morris, of Stillwater, Okla.; and 27-year-old Pfc. Rueben J. Lopez of Williams, Calif.
The remains of Freeman, Lay, Lopez and other service members were flown to Dover Air Force Base on Saturday.
