Local investors spooked by Wall Street's steep drop

The meltdown in the stock market on Thursday has investors in the D.C. metro area concerned about a repeat of the 2008 financial crisis.

Talk of a new, "double dip" in the recession has many people worried.

"Of course it's scary," investor and Fairfax County resident Rod Pickens says. He's worried about the status of his 401K. "It hurts everyone."

Experts say that building up cash in times of such fluctuations in the stock market is a good strategy.
