Maryland's infant mortality rate drops

BALTIMORE (AP) - Maryland officials are announcing the infant mortality rate has dropped for the second year in a row.

State and local officials, including Gov. Martin O'Malley and Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, have scheduled a news conference in Baltimore on Wednesday to talk about the decline for 2010.

Maryland's infant mortality rate has been above the national average.
