More lane closures scheduled on Capital Beltway
August 17, 2011 - 06:46 am
ALEXANDRIA, Va. (AP) - The summer construction season continues on the Capital Beltway with motorists again being warned of significant lane closures on the weekend.
Weather permitting, the inner loop of the beltway between U.S. 1 and Telegraph Road in the Alexandria area will be reduced to a single lane beginning Friday at 9 p.m. until Saturday afternoon. Several ramps on and off the beltway in that area will also be closed.
Drivers are urged to plot routes to avoid the area.
The construction work will realign the beltway's local lanes in that area. It's part of the long-running Woodrow Wilson Bridge construction project.
