Mother, step-dad attacked by son
A man is in custody after he allegedly attacked his mother and step-father early Sunday morning.
At 1:40 a.m., Northern District police officers responded to the 400 block of Old Riverside Road, for reports of a stabbing. When police arrived, they found a 51-year-old man suffering from multiple stab wounds to his body.
Investigations revealed Jesse Edward Chapman, 25, had returned home and began to choke and beat his mother before throwing her onto the floor. Chapman was allegedly on drugs.
Upon hearing the commotion, the step-father awakened and attempted to intervene. Chapmen grabbed a knife and began stabbing the step-father, wounding his wrist, shoulder and chest.
A female neighbor also attempted to intervene but was assaulted by Chapman.
When officers eventually arrived, they took him into custody.
The conditions of the victims were not immediately known, but none were life-threatening, police said.
Chapman is charged with attempted second degree murder, several counts of first and second degree assault, reckless endangerment, fourth degree sex offense, and false imprisonment, police said.
