Police have identified the suspect vehicle in a fatal hit-and-run that killed a tow truck driver on Route 100 in Glen Burnie last week.

A burgundy 1987 to 1995 Nissan Pathfinder was captured in surveillance footage, police said in a news release.

The car sustained significant damage in the crash. The right-side mirror and right front turn signal of the Nissan were broken, and the right-front fender was damaged. The car lost the center cover of the right-front wheel. The impact of the crash also shattered the windshield on the passenger side.

Shortly after the crash, the vehicle was observed traveling west on Hospital Drive toward Crain Highway past the Baltimore Washington Medical Center, police said. The spare tire at the rear of the car is covered with a "Nissan Pathfinder" tire cover.

The Nissan is suspected of crashing into a tow truck driver who was assisting another car Wednesday morning on eastbound Route 100 just before the Oakwood Road exit, killing the man.

James Frederick Schreiber, Jr., 38, of Pasadena, Md., was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses told investigators that the victim was driving a tow truck and had pulled over to assist a sewage truck on the shoulder when he was struck by the Nissan.

Asked whether the driver stopped at all, Justin Mulcahy of the Anne Anrundel County police said last week, “initially it was very brief and then he continued on. There is no indication he got out of the vehicle.”
