Power outages were reported at the National Zoo Sunday morning but resolved by the afternoon. No one was injured and the animals were safe.
The zoo was experiencing a problem in one of the power substations, said National Zoo spokeswoman Pamela Baker-Masson.
As of 12:47 p.m., the power problem had been resolved.
All animals are safe, she said.
It was not immediately known if the outages were due to the weather.
