Ravens' Bryant McKinnie trying to get his weight down
OWINGS MILLS, Md. (AP) - Still massive at roughly 370 pounds, new Baltimore Ravens left offensive tackle Bryant McKinnie says he's working hard to get down to his usual playing weight of 350 pounds.
McKinnie was cut by the Minnesota Vikings after reporting to training camp at 387 pounds. The Ravens last week signed him to a two-year contract and will install him on the left side of the line. That means Michael Oher will return to the right side, where he played as a rookie two years ago.
Asked what Ravens fans can expect from him, McKinnie replied: "A dominant player that is trying to be the best at his position."
Oher, meanwhile, has taken the switch in stride. He says the Ravens are going to be a "great team" with McKinnie, a former Pro Bowl standout.
