Robert Leslie Lynch and Angela Astin killed in Lothian head-on crash
August 19, 2011 - 04:51 am
Two drivers were killed when their cars collided head-on in Lothian.
Anne Arundel Police say Robert Leslie Lynch, of Annapolis, and Angela Astin, from Chesapeake Beach, died in the fatal crash at Solomon’s Island Road and Solitude Court shortly before 6 p.m. on August 18.
Authorities say Lynch’s truck was traveling northbound on Solomon’s Island Road when it crossed the double yellow line, striking Astin’s car, which was traveling southbound, head-on. Upon impact, both vehicles left the roadway and caught fire. The victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
Speed is not believed to have been a factor in the crash, and it’s not clear if alcohol played a role. The crash remains under investigation by the Traffic Safety Section.
