Schools closed after Hurricane Irene

Due to mass power outages caused by Hurricane Irene; the following 18 Prince George's County schools will remain closed:

Apple Grove ES;
Benjamin Foulois Creative and Performing Arts;
Brandywine ES;
Concord ES;
Glenarden Woods ES;
Heather Hills ES;
Highland Park ES;
Imagine Foundations I Public Charter;
Imagine Foundations II Public Charter;
James Frank Dent ES;
Kenmoor ES;
Magnolia ES;
Princeton Elementary;
Rockledge ES;
Samuel Ogle MS;
Tall Oaks Vocational HS;
Whitehall ES; and
Woodmore ES

Central High School was opened briefly, but due to new power outages, students and teachers were sent home. PEPCO crews were at the school working to restore power.

In Montgomery County, power has been restored to all public schools and they will be open on time Tuesday.

The school system and Pepco are working to restore power at Bradley Hills Elementary, Harmony Hills Elementary and Woodlin Elementary schools. MCPS will announcement whether those three schools will open tomorrow before 6 a.m., the district said.

Anne Arundel County Public Schools will be closed on Tuesday. Code Blue for employees.
