Stephen McDaniel, suspect in Lauren Giddings death, due in court
MACON, Ga. (AP) - A key hearing is scheduled for a man charged with murder in the death of a law school graduate.
The hearing Friday is scheduled for 25-year-old Stephen McDaniel, who is charged with the killing of his next-door neighbor and law school classmate Lauren Giddings in late June.
Giddings, a 27-year-old from Laurel, Md., was last seen June 25. Police discovered her torso five days later wrapped in plastic in a garbage bin near her Macon apartment building.
McDaniel and Giddings both graduated from Mercer University's law school in May.
McDaniel has also since been charged with seven counts of sexual exploitation of children linked to inappropriate images authorities said they found in his apartment.
A Macon investigator is scheduled to testify about the murder charges during the Friday hearing.
