Steven M. Bowers Jr., former soccer coach, accused of rape
ORANGE, Va. (AP) — A former Virginia high school girls soccer coach has been indicted on rape and other felony charges involving two girls.
The Free Lance-Star reports an Orange County grand jury Monday indicted 32-year-old Steven M. Bowers Jr. of Orange on two counts of forcible rape, six counts of taking indecent liberties and two counts of sexual object penetration.
Bowers, a former coach of the Orange High School girls team, was arrested March 30. He remains free on bond.
Commonwealth's Attorney Diana Wheeler says the victims live in Spotsylvania County. Neither was a soccer player nor under Bowers' supervision.
Bowers told a circuit judge on Monday he has yet to hire an attorney.
