McLEAN, Va. (AP) - The deadline is approaching for Virginia voters who want to cast in-person absentee ballots for Tuesday's primary elections.
All northern Virginia localities will have open office hours Friday and Saturday for people who want to vote in the Aug. 23 elections but can't cast their ballot on Election Day. After Saturday, only those who have already requested absentee ballots by mail will be able to vote absentee.
Democrats and Republicans are holding primaries Tuesday for a variety of local and state legislative posts.
Absentee voting could play an especially significant role because so many people are on vacation in August and turnout is expected to be low.
