Weekend Metro work to close 5 Red Line stations
August 19, 2011 - 05:24 am
WASHINGTON (AP) - Five stations on Metro's Red Line will close this weekend for maintenance.
Metro says the Takoma, Silver Spring, Forest Glen, Wheaton and Glenmont stations will close beginning Friday at 10 p.m. so workers can install new rails, as well as communications cables to enhance cell phone coverage.
Metro plans to run buses between the stations. Metro says customers traveling through the area should add 45 minutes to their travel times.
Metro is also planning work on the Blue and Orange lines that could add 20 minutes to travel times.
