Woman drives down embankment, lands in swimming pool

An elderly woman was injured when the vehicle she was driving traveled down an embankment and landed in a swimming pool early Saturday.
About 1:30 a.m., Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services responded to a woman trapped in a vehicle in the 6600 block of Carlinda Avenue in Columbia, Md.
The vehicle had fallen down a 100-foot embankment and landed in a back yard pool.
Emergency personnel had to use ground ladders and rope rigging systems to rescue the woman, who was submerged in water up to her chest.
The woman was taken to University of Maryland Shock Trauma. Her condition was not immediately known.
