UPDATE (1:36 p.m.): The suspicious package has been cleared by police, DDOT says.

ORIGINAL STORY: A suspicious package has closed down a portion of 14th Street NW near U Street, police say.
D.C. Police spokesman Hugh Carey says they received a call about an object, believed to have been left near the Post Office at 1914 14th Street NW, at about noon.
