67 cats taken from Severna Park animal rescue center
Authorities on Wednesday discovered and seized more than 60 cats, including two dead felines, that were discovered at an animal rescue center in Severna Park that was accused of being filthy.
Anne Arundel County Animal Control and other groups took a total of 67 cats from the Cool Cats Rescue Center located in the 500 block of Benfield Road. The cats were ion various states of health.
Authorities had received complaints that the rescue center was in deplorable condition.
"This case is another reminder that we need to be vigilant about the importance of spay and neutering," County Executive John Leopold said in a statement. "It also highlights the fact that organizations starting with the laudable goal of helping animals can turn into hoarding operations that hurt animals. We hope that citizens will come forward and give these cats good homes."
The cats have been taken to an animal control facility in Millersville, Md.
