7 TKE frat members at Radford charged in hazing death
September 20, 2011 - 08:19 am
RADFORD, Va. (AP) - Seven members of a fraternity at Radford University face hazing charges in connection with the death of a student.
Media outlets report that a grand jury also charged the Tau Kappa Epsilon members with supplying alcohol to an underage person. The indictments were handed up Friday.
The misdemeanor charges stem from the death of 20-year-old Samuel Harris Mason of Chesterfield County. Mason was found dead on Oct. 15, 2010, at a residence.
The medical examiner's office in Roanoke determined that Mason died from acute ethanol poisoning. An autopsy found that his blood alcohol level was 0.48, six times the legal limit.
