Airports board to get Dulles Metro plan update
\ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) - The board that runs Reagan and Dulles airports will get an update on the multi-billion dollar plan to extend the region's Metrorail system through Tysons Corner to Dulles and Loudoun County.
The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority has been under pressure to find ways to reduce the cost of the Metrorail expansion, which it also oversees. A board committee will discuss the project Wednesday morning.
Also on Wednesday, the board will discuss a proposal from Rep. Frank Wolf, R-Va., to overhaul the board's structure and add five new members. Under Wolf's plan, Virginia would appoint all of the new members and gain control over a majority of the board's seats. Maryland, the District of Columbia and the president all appoint board members as well.
