Albrecht Muth ordered held
Updated: September 9, 2011 - 05:14 pm
Albrecht Muth, the man charged with killing his elderly wife at their Georgetown home last month, was ordered held for probable cause for grand jury proceedings.
His next court hearing is scheduled for Nov. 18.
Muth, 47, is accused of murdering 91-year-old Viola Drath.
Police say the former journalist and socialite died from strangulation and blunt force trauma.
Muth says he’s innocent.
Drath, a German-born journalist and socialite, was killed by blunt force trauma and strangulation. Charging documents say that Muth had scratches on his face that detectives believe are evidence of a struggle.
The body of Drath showed bruising and abrasions on her neck, bruises on her scalp, as well as a fracture neck cartilage and fractured ribs, according to police.
Authorities allege Muth, who claimed to be an Iraqi general, was living off an allowance from his wife that had recently been reduced.
