Teon Leander Wallace shot and killed in Annapolis
An Annapolis man has been arrested and charged with the murder of Teon Wallace Tuesday.
Police arrested 54-year-old Clifton William Tutt. He is charged in the shooting death of19-year-old Wallace.
The shooting, which took place in the 1000 block of Monroe Street, is the first homicide in Annapolis in 2011. Authorities say they responded to the scene of the shooting at about 10:30 a.m. to find Wallace suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper torso. He was taken to Anne Arundel Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Officers located Tutt a short distance from the scene, police said in a news release. He was interviewed and charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder and weapons violations. He is being held without bail at the Jennifer Road Detention Center. The circumstances that led to this shooting are unknown at this time.
According to Metro CrimeStoppers of Maryland, Wallace had five open warrants for his arrest. Police said the warrants include an incident in July where Wallace is suspected of pointing a gun at and threatening to kill a woman and for an armed robbery in the 400 block of Captains Circle in August.
This is the first homicide in Annapolis this year. There were four homicides in 2010.
