Darnell Crews, Anthony James arrested in NW armored car heist
Police arrested two men suspected of being involved in the attempted armored car robbery in Northwest Washington that left one person dead.
Police arrested Police arrested 26-year-old Darnell Crews and 21-year-old Anthony James, both of the 800 block of Butternut St. NW.
Killed in the alleged robbery was 27 -year-old Kirk Anthony Dean of Northwest, D.C. Police said he was one of the alleged robbers.
Metropolitan Police Department spokesman Anthony Clay says that a Garda armored truck was the target of a robbery by three people in the 6500 block of Georgia Avenue NW on Wednesday.
“It was just a loud popping noise one after another so there was several sequence of shots,” said one witness.
According to a Washington Hospital Center spokesperson, two men believed to be the suspects in this crime drove to the hospital in this tan colored Toyota Matrix with Maryland tags.
One man, suffering from serious gunshot wounds, was dropped off at the ER while the other suspect wiped down the vehicle for fingerprints then ran away.
