Aruban authorities will re-enact alleged Robyn Gardner drowning
(AP, ABC7) The Aruban prosecutor's office says it will re-enact the alleged drowning of a U.S. woman to test her companion's account of the incident.
Solicitor General Taco Stein tells The Associated Press the re-enactment will take place soon but he won't say when. Police will play the roles of Maryland businessman Gary Giordano and alleged drowning victim Robyn Gardner. Investigators want to know if it's possible for Gardner to have drowned while snorkeling as Giordano described.
Stein declined Thursday to disclose the date of the exercise to discourage spectators. Giordano has been detained since Aug. 5 on suspicion of involvement in Gardner's presumed death.
He denies any wrongdoing and her body has not been found.
Monday, ABC News released never before seen photos of Gardner and Giordano partying in Aruba two nights before her disappearance.
Gardner wore the same dress she did the day she vanished. And today police are using these very pictures, as well as the testimony of two eyewitnesses and surveillance video to piece together what they believe to have been her final hours.
Investigators say the pair arrived at the Rum Reef restaurant at around 3 p.m. They stayed for an hour, then left for the beach. Then, shortly after six, Giordano reappears, alone, on security cameras shirtless but with his toupee still on.
Authorities have claimed his efforts seemed half-hearted for a man who's lover just drowned.
