Updated: September 2, 2011 - 09:39 am
A man who escaped from police custody on Thursday has been captured in Anne Arundel County, police say.
Anne Arundel County Police say that Bonrick Lee Barksdale, 25, was arrested shortly before midnight near the intersection of Dewey and Sumner Drives in the Admiral Heights community.
Authorities had been searching for Barksdale after he escaped from District Court in Anne Arundel County on Thursday.
Police had searched the Admiral Heights community earlier that day, but could not located Barksdale, until he was taken into custody later that night.
He overpowered a female guard at the courthouse and used her to get through the doors leading out of the courthouse, county police spokesman Lt. Frank Tewey told the Capital newspaper.
The paper reports that Barksdale was arrested Friday on a fugitive warrant from Greensboro, N.C., on charges including assault, sexual offense, attempted rape, kidnappping and robbery.
