Byron Sanchez, 30, was sentenced Thursday in the U.S. District Court on one count of receipt of child pornography. He was also placed on 10 years of supervised released upon the completion of his prison term.

An investigation revealed that Sanchez, who is of Guatemalan decent, instructed a woman in the country to take sexually explicit photos of a 12-year-old child in February 2011. He also told the woman to mail the film to his home in D.C., and the woman did so. Sanchez then dropped the pictures of the child off at a CVS store to be developed. A store employee called police to report the images of child porn, which led to his arrest.

During a search of Sanchez’s apartment, police found more pornographic photos of the same child, taken when she was 10-years-old. The investigation also revealed that he had requested additional nude images of the woman and the child on multiple occasions.
