D.C. earthquake: Culpeper's Main Street to fully reopen Friday

CULPEPER, Va. (AP) — A major thoroughfare in Culpeper closed by earthquake-related demolition is reopening.

Media outlets report that a section of Main Street closed since the Aug. 23 earthquake is scheduled to reopen at 5 p.m. Friday.
The city closed the 100 block of Main Street while crews worked to demolish a circa-1870 building damaged by the earthquake. Demolition work is continuing and that section of Main Street will be reduced to two lanes on Tuesday.
City officials say North East Street also could reopen today. The reopening hinges on whether another building damaged by the 5.8 magnitude earthquake can be stabilized and loose bricks removed.
The 100 block of South East Street will remain closed to traffic for at least another week.
