A couple in their 80s died on Sunday following a car crash.
Harry E. Emlet, Jr., was driving east on Route 50/ Arlington Boulevard with his wife, 85-year-old Elinor K. Emlet, who was riding in the passenger seat of the couple’s car.
Emlet tried to make a left turn near the intersection of Patrick Henry Drive in the Falls Church area shortly before 4 p.m. Police said he didn’t yield to oncoming traffic and a pick-up truck struck the car.
The 83-year-old Emlet and his wife were pronounced dead at the hospital. The couple live in the 3300 block of S. Jefferson Street.
The driver of the westbound car was a 41-year-old man from Rockville. He was treated at the hospital and released.
