Erik Smith, charged with assaulting man with car
A man is charged with assault after he allegedly hit another man with his car on Sunday in Md.
Erik Smith, 36, of 1805 Lansing Rd. in Glen Burnie, was charged with assault and multiple traffic violations, according to an Anne Arundel County Police news release.
At 3:42 p.m., Eastern District police officers responded to the Safeway located in the 4200 block of Mountain Road for a report of an assault.
Officers spoke to a 43-year-old man who said he was walking across the parking lot when a man driving a 2010 Volkswagon Jetta sped toward him, causing him to jump out of the way.
As the car passed, the vehicle's mirror hit the man.
The man yelled at the driver who then stopped, backed up, and sped toward the man a second time.
The man was able to jump out of the way to avoid being hit again.
As the driver swerved at the man, he hit a parked car in the parking lot before parking the car and entering the Safeway.
Police entered the store and found a man matching the description provided by the victim and witnesses. The man was placed under arrest and charged.
