Two firefighters were injured while battling a fire at an apartment complex in the White Oak area early Thursday morning that left 28 residents displaced.
Flames broke out on the top floor of the building in the 11400 block of December Way around 1 a.m.
Montgomery County Fire officials say one firefighter was taken to a trauma center with serious but non-life threatening injuries, and the other suffered minor injuries.
In total, eight apartments were deemed uninhabitable, leaving a number of people homeless.
The Red Cross says that some of the displaced residents will be in new apartment homes by tonight and the rest will be rehoused by Friday.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
