Metro SmarTrip online fare reloading service launches
September 22, 2011 - 02:01 pm
At long last, Metro riders are now able to reload their SmarTrip cards online.
WMATA says that the Online Reload feature will allow customers to manage their SmarTrip card balances at their convenience. The new program launched Thursday on the agency's website, www.wmata.com.
All customers with active SmarTrip cards can now log onto smartrip.wmata.com and pay using major credit cards. Customers must still complete their transaction by touching their card to a target on a faregate or vending machine after adding value to it online.
Riders must register their SmarTrip cards with the system to create an online account.
