Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority welcomes new CEO John Potter
VIENNA, Va. (AP) - The new president and CEO of the authority that runs the Washington region's two major airports will introduce himself to northern Virginia's business community.
John Potter, who previously served 10 years as U.S. postmaster general, is the featured guest at a welcome luncheon Thursday in Tysons Corner.
Potter will lead the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, which runs Washington Dulles International and Reagan National airports in northern Virginia and is overseeing a multi-billion dollar project to extend the D.C. region's Metrorail system to Dulles.
The airports authority has come under fire over the last year because of concerns about the cost of the Metrorail extension, and the authority's plan to pay for the project by raising fees on the Dulles Toll Road.
