Montgomery County to discuss gang violence intiative
ROCKVILLE, Md. (AP) - Lawmakers in Montgomery County are discussing a federal grant intended to reduce gang violence along the border with Prince George's County.
The county council plans to take up the supplemental appropriation during a Tuesday afternoon hearing.
The grant of nearly $1.3 million would fund the Prince George's and Montgomery County Gang Initiative.
The initiative is aimed at curbing gang crime and violence, better sharing of information and intelligence and gang intervention and prevention activities.
The council is holding a series of informal meetings with County Executive Isiah Leggett.
