VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (AP) - The Navy's Blue Angels will perform in Virginia for the first time following an air show in Lynchburg that resulted in the commanding officer's resignation.

The flight squadron is scheduled to perform Saturday at the Oceana Air Show in Virginia Beach. In May, the elite flight demonstration team was ordered to stand down for several weeks after four of the six F/A-18 Hornets flew too low during the Lynchburg Regional Air Show.

The stand-down led to the departure of the squad's commander, Navy Cmdr. Dave Koss. It also forced the team to cancel several practices and performances, including a flyover at the U.S. Naval Academy's graduation ceremony.

Nationwide performances resumed in June and team members say they're excited to be performing again.

The Blue Angels are based in Pensacola, Fla.
