Northwest D.C. armored car robbery attempt leaves one shot, two at large
An attempted armored car robbery in Northwest Washington left one person shot and D.C. police searching for more suspects, authorities say.
Metropolitan Police Department spokesman Anthony Clay says that a Garda armored truck was the target of a robbery by three people in the 6500 block of Georgia Avenue NW.
“It was just a loud popping noise one after another so there was several sequence of shots,” said one witness.
According to a Washington Hospital Center spokesperson, two men believed to be the suspects in this crime drove to the hospital in this tan colored Toyota Matrix with Maryland tags.
One man, suffering from serious gunshot wounds, was dropped off at the ER while the other suspect wiped down the vehicle for fingerprints then ran away.
Police released very few details about this crime.
“There are several witnesses who were actually around the area and we're talking to them trying to get a complete story of the events that took place this morning,” said MPD Commander Kim Chisley-Missouri.t.
