Wreef Wafy Almutiri, 1, drowns in hotel bathtub in Reston
Updated: September 19, 2011 - 10:12 am
A one-year-old baby girl drowned in a bathtub in a hotel room in Reston Sunday night.
About 8:15 p.m., police were called to the Westin Reston Heights at 11750 Sunrise Valley Drive for a report of a baby death, said Fairfax County Police spokesperson Officer Bud Walker.
Arriving units found the infant deceased.
The family of the girl--identified as Wreef Wafy Almutiri--had just moved from Saudi Arabia to the U.S. yesterday, according to an official with the Saudi Arabian Embassy.
A Westin employee told a person with the Embassy that the mother had a nervous breakdown after the drowning occurred and had to be taken to the hospital.
Police have no information regarding charges at this point.
The circumstances around the death are still under investigation.
