ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - A U.S. Naval Academy student has been sentenced to six months confinement and dismissal from the Navy for raping a fellow student.

A military judge sentenced 20-year-old Patrick Edmond on Thursday.

Prosecutors said Edmond raped his classmate in her dorm room in October. Edmond, of Jackson, Miss., had testified that the sex was consensual.

He also was found guilty of making a false statement to investigators.
