Police in Woodbridge investigating suspicious death
Police in Woodbridge are investigating a suspicious death involving a 47-year-old man who had allegedly jumped from a third story window and then ran into traffic Thursday.
Police went to Jefferson Davis Highway and Gordon Boulevard at about 2:30 a.m. for a call of a suspicious person.
Authorities said the man jumped from the window of a Inns of Virginia in the 900 block of Annapolis Way, struck the hood of a vehicle in the parking lot and then ran down Jefferson Davis Highway.
Police stopped the man, who tried to run into traffic, and then detained him.
The man lost consciousness when medical crews arrived. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The deceased has been identified as Wendell M. Bates of Woodbridge.
